The Prowl Pee Wee and Bantam travel teams stormed into 2016 with a clean sweep, each earning back-to-back wins against their opponents on the weekend of January 2nd and 3rd.
The Pee Wees, on their home rink at Iceplex, bested the Hampton Roads Whalers 6-2 and 5-2 on Saturday and Sunday respectively, bringing their overall record against the local rivals to 5-0. With 10 regular season games remaining, the Prowl Travel Pee Wees enjoy an overall record of 14-7-5, and a CBHL league record of 7-4-4. They are well positioned in fourth place among 16 teams in the Pee Wee Lower Patrick Division.
The Bantams started the new year on the road, beating the Potomac Patriots 2-0 at the Prince William Ice Center in Dale City, VA on January 2nd. They followed up that solid performance the next day with a notable comeback win over the Reston Raiders Silver at SkateQuest in Reston, VA. Down 3-0 to start the third period, the team pulled off a won’t-quit 5-goal performance to win the game 5-3, improving their season record to 14-7-3. With 8 regular season games remaining, the Bantams have a 4-4-2 CBHL league record, totaling 10 points for 5th place in their conference and are tied for 9th place out of 14 teams in the Bantam Upper Patrick Division.
Both Prowl Travel teams look to build upon their new year momentum against league opponents on January 9th and 10th. The Pee Wees host the Southern Maryland Sabres and Ashburn Extreme at Iceplex, and the Bantams travel to the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf, MD to face the Southern Maryland Sabres in back-to-back league games on Saturday and Sunday.
With their inaugural seasons quickly moving toward an exciting conclusion, there isn’t much time left to come out and get into the Prowl Travel action. Make it your New Year’s resolution for 2016!
